Swarthmore Friends Meeting strives to serve the spiritual needs of all members, including the youngest. Families will find programs, support structures, and service opportunities for children of all ages.
First Day School. In First Day School (Sunday School), children experience and develop understanding of the traditional Quaker testimonies of simplicity, peace, integrity, community, equality, and stewardship.
The curriculum includes religious learning and experience through the Faith and Play program, which integrates Montessori-inspired storytelling with deep wondering questions and hands-on crafts. Other activities include singing and story telling.
Special programs. Occasional special programs include the annual Bird walk Breakfast and Christmas Pageant.
Meeting for Worship. Children are welcome to attend regular Meeting for Worship if they desire. After Meeting for Worship, the children join the community for refreshments during fellowship hour.
Childcare is provided for younger children during Meeting for Worship.
