Cooking for the Homeless

Cooking for the Homeless Working Group is an outreach activity done through Swarthmore Monthly Meeting’s Peace and Social Concerns Committee.  Meals are served at a shelter on the 69th Street-West Philadelphia border.  Currently we are serving about 150 people on the third Saturday night of each month.  Meal preparation happens on Saturday morning starting at 9:30 a.m. in the Meetinghouse kitchen. Volunteers are welcome to come help us prepare this meal each month.

A second group of volunteers returns to the Meetinghouse to take the meal to the shelter, serve it, and return to the Meetinghouse.  We meet around 5:30 pm to load the cars and drive to the shelter.  We return around 8:30 pm.
